The best thing about Bitcoin conferences? Meeting other Bitcoiners!
Tomorrow marks the start of the largest Bitcoin conference in the world. As thousands of Bitcoiners (never mind RFK JR., Russell Brand, Michael Saylor, and yes, Donald Trump) descend upon Nashville, you can be assured there will be tremendous hype.
Will Elon Musk make a surprise appearance?
Are any new nation states adopting Bitcoin as legal tender?
Will Trump announce a plan for a Bitcoin reserve in the US?
Who knows? And frankly, who cares?
Bitcoin will do what it does with or without today’s powerful and influential people throwing their weight behind it. Sure, exciting announcements might move the needle faster in the right direction, but, as we like to say…
Bitcoin doesn’t care.
The most important thing that happens at Bitcoin events is the same most important thing that happens at other, in-person events: people meet other people.
There is no greater gift than getting to meet up with talented, like-minded individuals on a mission to bring about a peaceful monetary revolution. Indeed, it must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Online, Bitcoiners can be described in any number of ways: idealistic, combative, energetic, divided, argumentative, conspiratorial, apolitical, and the list goes on.
But when given the opportunity to meet with Bitcoiners in-person, you’ll note that one particular word comes to mind when defining them: hopeful.
We are hopeful that so many of the problems and challenges we face are materially made better or entirely resolved through a superior form of money that resets incentives and changes the entire psyche of those fortunate to catch the Bitcoin bug.
If you have the opportunity to get to Nashville, join a meetup in your area, or otherwise engage with the Bitcoin community, you just might be gifted with new friendships and a renewed sense of hope.
